Dickie is the third of nine children born to Carl Alvin Goldstein and his wife Alma Jane Wilson. He attended Travis High School in Austin, Texas where he played baseball and basketball. Dickie loved dogs and fishing and spent a lot of time on the water. He retired from employment with the State of Texas as the Head Groundskeeper at the Capital several years ago. He died in his home from a heart attack. He is survived by his wife, Pat, and his five children, as well as his eight brothers and sisters.
